About This Experience
A Roman City Preserved by Vesuvius
Walk the streets of Pompeii and discover an ancient city whose ordinary life was interrupted by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. What makes the site extraordinary is not just the tragedy of its destruction, but the wealth of evidence it preserves: the arrangement of streets, public fountains, household decoration, commercial buildings and the spaces where residents worked, ate, socialized and worshipped.
Everyday Life Beyond the Textbooks
A private archaeological visit connects physical remains with human stories. Depending on the day's access and your interests, we may investigate the layout of a Roman house, street-front shops, bakery equipment, public baths or the city's political and religious center. Surviving wall paintings, inscriptions and architecture help us discuss everything from social status and household traditions to the infrastructure that supported a busy provincial city. The exact set of buildings depends on conservation work and the official site's opening arrangements.
A Guided Route at Your Pace
Pompeii is much larger than many visitors expect, so we choose a realistic route instead of promising to cover every neighborhood in a single visit. Families may enjoy stories about food, games, animals and domestic life, while visitors with a deeper historical interest may prefer architecture, archaeology and the eruption's scientific context. We can arrange this experience as part of a trip based in Naples, on the Amalfi Coast or farther away, with transfers quoted separately.
Plan Your Visit
Expect a substantial amount of walking over ancient stone paving with uneven surfaces and exposed sections, especially in warm weather. Admission is not included unless it appears in the confirmed proposal. Local licensed guiding and any transport costs are arranged according to the itinerary and should not be assumed to be part of an unpriced listing.
Optional Extension — Herculaneum
For visitors interested in discovering more of the ancient Roman world, we can arrange an extension to Herculaneum, a separate archaeological site known for its exceptionally well-preserved buildings and details of daily life. Pompeii and Herculaneum offer complementary perspectives on the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. This optional addition requires extra time, separate admission and any appropriate local guiding or transport arrangements, all quoted individually.
Example Price — Pompeii Private Tour from Sorrento
As a useful reference, an 8-guest private Pompeii excursion has been quoted at €760 in total, including round-trip private transport from Sorrento, a private guided tour of Pompeii and entrance tickets for all eight guests. This is an illustrative past quotation, not a fixed or guaranteed price: your personalized package, admissions and final price depend on the travel date, group size, transfer route, availability and the services you choose. Please contact us for more information and an individual quotation.
